YouTube has been defining the single most important thing of our lives today – sharing. In an easy to consume way. And we all love to be a part of it. You can’t deny having seen some of the most amazing videos, most hilarious ones, most touching ones, videos that you love but never know where to find or who to ask for and videos that have helped you as a professional, as a family “chef”, a parent, a geek…. And then again there have been your own YouTube moments where you play the lead. We have seen exceptionally spectacular YouTube events too, which could not have been possibly executed on any other media. YouTube Symphony Orchestra was one such surprise.

Here’s good news for all ye YouTube enthusiasts who have been meaning to take part in a global event but couldn’t due to “you-know-I’ve-been-too-busy”or “nobody-told-me-about-it”or “you-had-a-sore-thumb” or whatever.  This time, you have none other than the one and only Ridley Scott asking you to go out there and shoot and share and be a part of the “Life In A Day” project. It’s gonna be one of a kind event that will attempt to document one day as seen through the eyes of people like you and me around the world on July 24. So what will you see on this day?

Kevin Macdonald, the Oscar-winning director of films such as The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void and One Day in September, will then edit the most compelling footage into a feature documentary film, to be executive-produced by Ridley Scott, the director behind films like Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Thelma & Louise, Blade Runner and Robin Hood. LG Electronics is supporting “Life in a Day” as a key part of its long-standing “Life’s Good” campaign and to support the creation of quality online content that can be shared and enjoyed by all.

Crowdsourcing, Creativity, Collaboration, all rolled in one. Now this is one helluva googlemoment. What’s it going to be like?

  1. We are such suckers for publicity. I am curious how many loaded their videos? In India it will have to be Karan Johar productions if youtube wants to see action. More like shoot a video of yourself and load if you want a chance to star in a movie. Not get it shot. Director v/s fimstar

Google is trying its damnedest hard to stay top of mind. Their last frontier is cracking a social networking site that could stand up to facebook or twitter. Buzz was a disaster. If they get that right then armed with the android they could be quite a convergence point. But i agree. A docu with Ridley Scott is a good bait.

I read recently that people dont listen to music as much on their ipod as they do on youtube. So just google it.
